Finding Your Purpose, how to know what to do

You came here with your purpose intact, you forgot it because we weren’t taught to create a connection with our inner-self. Schooling is a major culprit to this. You start off your schooling/indoctrination career at a particularly mind-malleable age. So you’re more vulnerable to be influenced. Then at 18, they expect you to know what you wanna do with your life when not long ago you had to ask for permission to go to the toilet?

In school, you learn to operate from the outside. You learn to react to the outside world not how to respond to it. You learn to regurgitate not create. The opposite of what your purpose requires.

Your purpose, your values, your truth, are all INSIDE. Therefore, to find and live your purpose, the goal is to operate from the inside

what does this mean?  The outside is societal/cultural pressure, peer/familial pressure etc. Operating from the inside is the opposite of what you’ve been taught. This means to live authentically, to live irrespective of what the world has said you should do.

To do this you have to create a gap where you can facilitate the connection from the inside, you have to close the outside door just for a while and I have 3 easy ways to begin that connection if you haven’t already

This is crucial, without isolation you will never get away from the expectations of the outside world. Isolation allows for your truth to come through. Even an hour a day by yourself without tv will do wonders. Meditation and journaling are some of my favourite tools when alone.

Some questions for journaling

  • what emotions do I feel most often? What am I thinking/doing when they arise?
  • How do I feel around/in x? (people/place)
  • What was I good at in school?
  • What do I often get complimented for?
  • If I had all the money I need, what would I do?

These answers to these questions are very revealing, try them! Obviously, there are a lot more you can ask but you get the idea.

2. Follow your curiosity

Often insight comes through an idea, you may get a sudden interest in something you weren’t previously, this is your intuition, listen to it. This can lead you to new places/people etc which can lead to knowing which direction to take your life.

3.Consciously Change your environment.

Surrounding yourself with the same environment all the time can prevent something new from coming through. New people, books and places often come with new ideas/insight, this insight can again lead you to know which direction you want to take with your life.

Some life-changing books I highly recommend that have helped me…

Thank you for reading, have a great day and Know your purpose!

Is it weird to have pets?

You ever thought how weird it is how humans are the only species on earth that has pets? Personally, I find it so strange, but not necessarily in a bad way

Obviously, pets have beneficial effects on humans, aside from protection, the main benefit of having pets is the emotional comfort of having one. But why do we seek this from pets?

Could this be an indication of how disconnected we feel from each other that we’d rather seek it from another species?  or is it a commentary on how evolved we are, as to not segregate our love to just our own species? or just how complicated we have made human to human intimate connection?

Humans at the moment are not living in their highest state, at the current rate, a large section of humanity are knowingly destroying the planet. This is the opposite of a ‘civilised’ or an advanced society.

On the other hand, animals are in tune with nature and are living harmoniously with her. A valid case could be made that humans are not the most advanced species on earth. Potentially? Yes, but behaviourally? No

My point here is we have a lot to learn from our animal teachers, our pets.

If you observe pets you can learn a lot

dog worryingPets live in the moment, they live in the NOW

For example, you never see a dog complaining that it’s getting boring catching a ball because it’s getting repetitive. Aside from not being able to speak, it’s because dogs are living in the moment, not in their memories, they’re not filtering reality through their past or worrying about what’s gonna happen next but instead, they’re anchored in the present. They’re demonstrating to us what it means to be mindful, from this perspective, pets are our teachers

Pets also serve humanity in other wonderful ways, in the case of dogs, they encourage exercise, which is particularly useful in the midst of the prevalent sedentary lifestyle.

As for the reverse effects, on the pets themselves…

Some pets are abused or abandoned or both. Most are taken from their natural environment and put into a makeshift one, for birds, its the same as having their wings clipped. Some are taken away from their families. The psychological effects? Just imagine if this happened to you. The effects are particularly strong for aquatic or volant animals as we can never feasibly recreate their natural environment, and still have them as pets.

and of course, some are saved, that would have died otherwise, some find a loving family, and some end up happy

Pets may lack complex thought/reasoning ability but they definitely have a lot they can teach/remind us.

To conclude, I still think it’s weird to have pets, to demonstrate, imagine the roles were reversed

bad person, bad

Why life is standing in your way

life appears to be in your way when you have forgotten that it’s YOU

You think people/bills/exams etc are all against you but they only appear that way because of the energy you give off with your thoughts, emotions, words and actions

To get life to move out of the way, you have to ACCEPT life and SURRENDER to it. Surrendering has a bad rep, often miscued as weakness, but surrendering is the wisest thing you can do.

To ACCEPT is to have no resistance towards life. You are resisting life when you are in-denial, exhibiting escapism behaviour, complaining, worrying, anxious etc

ACCEPTANCE is not only the fastest way to self-love but also the fastest way to get life to move out of your way.  Make sure to fully accept your life situation and not merely acknowledged it

Acknowledgement is simply being aware of the perceived ‘problem’ e.g “I’m unhappy with my body shape\size” Whereas ACCEPTANCE is BEing okay with your body shape/size even as you seek to change it

ACCEPTANCE is surrendering, It’s feeling those negative emotions without trying to suppress or judge them. With this, you are able to learn what your emotions are telling you. This can reveal limiting beliefs you may have or just something you need to know about yourself

When you’re simply in acknowledgement, you’re still living in fear, back to the ‘body shape/size example, in this example you’d be living with anxiety, thinking that everyone (life) is watching you and negatively judging you but that’s just YOU projecting those thoughts onto others

When you SURRENDER you’re no longer in resistance to life. You ACCEPT yourself even if others don’t, you thus no longer have anxiety or worries about people judging you negatively

It’s impossible to ACCEPT life if you judge any part of it as bad or wrong. It’s also impossible if you think there is anything you HAVE to do/be/have.The truth is, you don’t have to do, be or have  anything

When you truly get this, then you can just BE.

What does it mean to BE? It means to be content with life as it IS not as you seek it to be. It means even as you seek to accomplish your goals, you do so without worry/stress/anxiety because you know even if you ‘fail’ it will be okay.

This is true freedom.

3 stages along the way to SURRENDERing

1. Denial, nothing happens, the problem is swept under the rug and you temporarily escape,  You might eat/smoke/work/Netflix etc as a method to escape

2. Acknowledgement. a) you acknowledge the problem but do little to nothing about it, you’ll mainly use one of the above methods to escape instead

b) You do something about it, effectively ‘fixing’ the problem, but while doing so, you’re in resistance to yourself, you condition yourself to believe you have to be a certain way in order for you to love yourself, you teach yourself to love yourself conditionally rather than UNconditionally. You develop a potentially shaky self-esteem and you’re emotionally vulnerable when/if the problem resurfaces

This is also problematic when it comes to things you can’t change, as this puts you at the mercy of external conditions to decide how you feel, which is where your power is not, your power is inside.

3. SURRENDERING. This is BEing, this is no resistance, this is accepting life as it is. This is being okay with the problem, even as you seek to change it. This is basically seeing no problems, only consequences. This can be a difficult place to reach because of what we’ve been conditioned to by the media/culture/parents etc

Remember:  “There is no such thing as right or wrong, there is only that which works and that which doesn’t, based on what you’re trying to do”

When you truly understand and inner-stand this then you can fully ACCEPT life as it is

but does that mean you’ll be passive? No! ACCEPTING something doesn’t mean choosing it, for e.g you’d accept a speeding ticket if you were driving 100mph on a school road, doesn’t mean you’d choose it

If you find yourself, broke/depressed/ ‘failing’ etc in some way, don’t passively accept this condition, don’t think “this is bad/wrong”. Do what it takes to get where you’d choose to be.  Unless of course, that’s what you’d choose

If you take anything from this post, take this:

There is nothing wrong or bad in the universe

ACCEPTANCE is your golden ticket to freedom

Life gets out of your way when you remember it’s YOU

Who is ‘Fearlessopher’?

I’ve changed so much over the past couple of years. So much, in fact, I no longer feel like the same person, I don’t like the same music, no longer eat the same food or watch the same things etc,  Sometimes I feel like an alien to myself.  It baffles me how the things which used to stimulate me so much no longer do.

This led to an inevitable desire to reinvent myself.  I wanted to be brand new, I wanted to be better than I’d ever been, I wanted to actively optimise and change every aspect of the old me that held me back for too long so I came up with a completely new persona/alter ego – ‘fearlessopher’

Fearless: to become a better version of myself I knew I had to let go of fear. mainly the fear of caring what others think

Philosopher: literal meaning = ‘lover of wisdom/knowledge’

Fearless philosopher‘ used up too many characters on Twitter,  so I merged the two words, thus giving birth to ‘Fearlessopher’

This blog is about documenting my progress/evolution and the things I’m passionate about 🙂

“The purpose of life is to grow/evolve. Life does this via mutation/change. Meaning the only constant in life is change. To resist change is, therefore, also to resist life” – Fearlessopher
